September Book Discussion : The Adoration of Jenna Fox
We haven't been blogging here in a while, but with the new school year, we'll be posting much more often. Expect more updates about teen programs here at the Suwanee branch, including our Book Club Cafe and other exciting events!
Anyway, join us on Tuesday, September 16 for our discussion of The Adoration of Jenna Fox by Mary E. Pearson -- a science-fiction thriller in which amnesiac Jenna Fox must reconstruct her past, only to learn a startling secret about her existence. In addition to serving up an edge-of-your-seat read, Pearson raises some important (and sometimes unsettling) questions about medicine and bioethics.
We'll be meeting at 5:00 by the teen books at the Suwanee branch (and as usual, there will be cookies and lemonade, since it's still too hot for coffee)! Hope to see you there!

Get Tattoo'd!
This Tuesday, June 17th, the Suwanee branch of the Gwinnett County Public Library will be hosting a Henna Tattoo program. One of our staff members will discuss the history and technique of this fascinating art, and we'll have henna available to create designs that will last anywhere from a couple days to a couple weeks, depending on how long the ink is allowed to set on your skin.
Because there is a slight risk of an allergic reaction, permission slips signed by your parents are required for this event. Hope to see you there!

June Book Discussion : Shark Girl
Our first book discussion of the summer will be this Tuesday, June 10th! We'll be discussing Shark Girl by Kelly Bingham -- a novel in verse (interspersed with letters and news clippings) about fifteen-year-old Jane Arrowood, a promising artist and the victim of a freak shark attack. Described by Publishers' Weekly as "powerful" and by VOYA as "wonderful," Shark Girl tells the story of one teen's loss, anger, and recovery following a devestatingly tragic experience.
So read the book and join us on Tuesday at 5:00 by the teen books at the Suwanee branch! See you there!
